Swaziland : SWAYOCO in full support of students at Limkokwing University

It is now more than a week since students started what was to be a peaceful protest for book fee and student allowance at Limkokwing University in Mbabane. We had understood this initiative of students to be a clear call and reminder that better conditions for education help to ensure a conducive environment for learning. These are pre-requites for any institution of higher learning that is serious about the mandate of education under any government that still value the social contract it has with people in whose name things are done.

The violent and extremely unprofessional response of his majestys government through the ministry of labor as well as ministry of education proves beyond any shadow of doubt that, education is not a priority neither is it a matter of national interest in the eyes of the current regime. Our youth charter adopted many years ago, read together with the peoples manifesto, clearly place education as a tool for liberation of our society from all the central evil imbalances of the past, that being poverty, patriarchy, ignorance and underdevelopment of our society. It is on these political yardsticks upon which our denouncing the current state of the higher institutions of learning comes from.

We therefore wish to warn government together with the puppet administration of Limkokwing university, that what students through their voice SNUS together with the local student representative council have said, must be urgently done without hesitation. The week long academic time already lost is too big to be quantified and students can`t be made to suffer for the wrongs for which there were not responsible of. The injured students in fracas that ensued because of the trigger happy royal militia RSP is condemned with the strongest possible terms.

As front line soldiers of the Swazi struggle, we are watching very closely the conduct of government in this matter and urgent possible avenues may be pursued if this debacle continues.

To all students President Bhekie Dlamini inside the cold dark cells of the regime urges you all to soldier on without fear or hesitation. He calls upon every youth to rise and defend education for, it is the only weapon we have against the unjust grinding poverty perpetrated deliberately by the feudal backward royal regime.

In emphasizing the call from our leader, the entire leadership of behalf of the thousands of young people of this land, we wish to assure all Limkokwing students and parents that this battle is worth fighting and must at all cost be won otherwise. Even if all means ought to be employed so be it until victory is achieved.

Lastly we would like to commend the SNAT for the resolution to take it to the street. It has become clear to everyone that the best way to deal with an aristocratic regime is to fight it with all your might until you win. We promise to provide ground support to all forces fighting for genuine change and in particular to foster regime change.

We would like to pass our disappointment to the fact that you seem to be alone in the struggle for a cost of a living adjustment yet there could be more forces in this fight. Forward to economic liberation of the workers forward !!

Amandla to all students and education is power !!!!!
