Soudan : Detention of Sudanese women activists
30 décembre 2010 04:36 0 messages
Sudanese Women organisations, including the Sudanese Women Union, have organised today the 14 Th. of Dec. a peaceful demonstration to protest against treatment of women by the present Islamic regime which have resulted last week in sentencing a young Sudanese lady to public lashing for allegedly breaking their Islamic law that forbids women from practicing their right to mix with men..
The protesters were in their hundre planning to present a memorandum to the minister of justice. The security forces surrounded the protesters and demanded that they disband immediately. The peaceful protesters refused demanding that the security forces respect their constitutional rights of peaceful assembly. Without warning, the police attacked the protesters, injuring a number of them and detaining thirty-three activists. Among those arrested are well political leader Rabah Al Sadig and Dr.Ihsan Fageri of the Communist Party. Zeinb Al Sawi and Zeinb Badr Eldien were also among those arrested.
We call upon to immediately protest to the Sudanese Gov. or the nearest Sudanese Embassy, demanding the immediate release of all detainees and respect to women dignity and their rights and individual freedoms as well as to abolish all the laws that discriminate against Sudanese women.
Pease, inform us of any action you undertake
