Le 2 octobre, les militants islamistes d’Al Shabaab ont interdit à 3 compagnies du secteur des télécommunications d’exercer leur activité, paralysant ainsi le système dans 8 régions du pays. TELCOM Somalia, Nation Link Telecommunication Company et Dahabsihiil avaient en effet refusé de payer une somme d’argent que les militants cherchaient à leur extorquer illégalement.
