Soudan : Confiscation of Almidan

D 4 septembre 2011     H 22:48     A Sudanese Communist Party     C 0 messages

In its attempts to silence all opposition forces and curtail freedom of expression the SUDANESE government, using its national security org. have confiscated ALMIDANs issue no : 2411 of 4th of September 2011. This is the fifth time since the beginning of this year that the secturity forces have stopped the disribution of Almidan, the newspaper of the Sudanese Communist Party. We recall as well the detention of 8 members of Almidans editorial board, who were later released thanks to solidarity actions and the steadfastedness of our colleagues.

The issue2411 reflectd the standpoint of our party on the current military aggression unleashed by the government against the forces of the Sudanese Peoples Liberation Movement. As a result of these attacks thousands of innocent civilians were forced to flee for their lives. Thousands of the civilian population of South Kordufan and the Nuba mountains were forced to leave their villages and towns. Some have entered Ethiopia. The town of Aldamazin was heavly bombarded resulting tens of hundreds being killed or injured.

The Sudanese government is trying to impose its authority and bankrupt policies in the area of South Kordufan and the Nuba mountains. The same polices that have lead to the outbreak of the civil war in Darfur which is continuing for overeight years.
Almidan is signaled out because of it contiued adherence to follow an independent campaigning line unmasking the crimes committed by the Sudanese government.

We appeal to all friendly and fraternal parties and or ganisations to to condemn the recent military actions of the Sudanese government. Furthermore to demand respect to basic democratic freedoms including the freedom of expression.
