The Sudanese Security forces refused to allow the distribution Of Almidan issue of Sunday 10th of July. This is the fourth intervention by the security forces resulting in blocking Almidan from reaching its readers.

The Sunday was very important since it came immediately after the establishment of of the new Republic of Southern Sudan.
The Sunday issue published a caricater depicting the government as responsible for the split of the country.

The editorial of the said issue have put the blame for the split of the country sqearely on the shoulders of the goverment.

It also published a statement of the Polit Bureau on the recent developments.
These repressive step comes after the security forces have detained the participants at the our Party branch conference in Portsudan.
They were all later released.

The government of the Sudan still continue to state that it respects freedom of the Press and human rights. Its actions make mockery of such pronouncement.

Please, urgently express your solidarity with Almidan... Condemn the repression in the Sudan.. Demand an end to detention without trial police and security aggressive act against democratic forces ... Respect for freedom of expression, assembly and movement.
